Day 3: Friday

Today we had the most time to construct our projects. We finished getting all the wood we needed to get cut. It took us quite a while just to organize what wood we had cut already and how much more we needed to get cut. We also had to make decisions to cut out certain parts as the wood supply was running out.

Once we were organized, however, we built everything rather quickly. Brianna and I constructed the two planter boxes that go next to the inside benches. It took us a while since we had to share the same drills between everyone.

Other people worked on benches, one last wall, and the roof. One of the more fun parts is when we all had to work together to stretch out the cloth for the roof.

After finishing building the planter boxes I helped set up the last bench. Later in the day, it was getting very hot and I think all of us got sunburned. All that we have left is the supports for the benches and putting the whole prototype together. The poster is coming along nicely and then my group has to get feedback on our design, which will hopefully be able to hold up during the presentation time. Some of the wood was cracked and warped, but we were cut short on wood so there wasn't much we could do about it. So far though, the building looks impressive enough to show off to other school members, friends, and family.
